Origin: All lions in the world come out of the South China Sea
According to the editor-in-chief of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Nanhai District, Foshan City, and edited by Xie Zhongyuan and Li Nianzhong. In the book “Babaylan Art”, I did not produce lions in my country in ancient times, and lions were all tributes from outside the territory. Among them, the records of tribute lions in the “Book of the Later Han Dynasty” are the earliest. With the introduction of lions, the skill of lion taming was also introduced accordingly. Lion dance was popular during the Three Kingdoms period. During the Northern Wei Dynasty, lion dance was often performed with evil-proof wizards. Now the shape of the two-part lion dance was roughly matured in the Tang Dynasty. During the Song Dynasty, lion dance was introduced from the palace to the people and gradually became popular.
The lion dance in the South China Sea region was the lion dance outside the territory and was then introduced through the Central Plains. Cinema developed on the basis of the northern lion’s southern transmission. According to Cao Jianheng’s “The Spring and Autumn of Wulin in Guangdong” (1982), lion dance in Guangdong originated in Foshan. Local people believed that lions had the effect of exorcising evil spirits and suppressing demons. From then on, Komiks beat gongs and drums every Spring Festival, and transferred lion dances to greet New Year’s greetings to show elimination of disasters and predicting good fortune. Over time, lion dances and New Year’s greetings became a new year.A custom. The Qianlong version of the Qing Dynasty “Fushan Zhongyi Township Chronicle” also records that in September of the 14th year of Zhengtong (1449), when Huang Xiaoyang led his people to rebel in Nanhai County, Foshan people played the role of a story, scaring away the rebels with gongs and drums, and promoting the prosperity of the custom of waking lions.
The real name of the lion is “Rui Lion”, but the homophonic pronunciation is easy to pronounce as “Sleeping Lion”, and later changed to “Lui Waking”. After the 1980s, the lion dance gradually developed from a folk activity with folk belief characteristics to a standardized and competitive traditional national sports, and even became the most widely circulated, influential and “popular” culture and sports in the world.
As the changes of the times, the South China Sea lions not only spread widely in the province, but also spread to Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other regions, and was also popular overseas. “The world’s lions all come out of the South China Sea.”
