He said: “I may not be able to extend the length of my life, but I can dominate the thickness of my life.” Faced with the “judgment” that is almost equivalent to the end of life, Wang Lei fought against the disease with an iron will while continuing to struggle on the front line of scientific research and clinical practice. Under his promotion, the first “China Radioactive Technological Countermeasures and Experts on Diagnosis and Treatment of Proctitis” in China was formulated and issued, establishing industry standards for domestic diagnosis and treatment; at the US Clinical Oncology Conference, he gave a sick body to nearly 10,000 oncologists from around the world the only colorectal cancer research report in the field of the digestive tract from China.
In June 2019, Wang Lei passed away due to illness at the age of 50. Adhering to “patient first” is his lifelong pursuit.
