From the Nanyue Guards to patrol the ancestral halls in various villages, from the southern country to the Cantonese food, on the morning of February 24, the 2024 Cantonese Temple Fair officially opened, covering various Cantonese folk cultural activities. The exhibition and folk culture parade on that day also included the Wuyang Fairy Dance, the Suxin Beauty, and the Five Horses Tour of the Zhaoqing Fengkai. Citizens and tourists participated in a grand cultural carnival. In the next 7 days, Yuexiu District will also hold a series of temple fairs throughout the region to fully display the essence of Cantonese culture. Singers from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao sing the voice of Cantonese. The twelve tour teams bring the grand style of Nanyue, intangible cultural heritage, golden armor and heroic light, Cantonese wedding customs and other special displays, conveying the strong Cantonese New Year atmosphere. This year’s Cantonese Temple Fair focuses on the successors of the Dragon and the Bay Area to jointly enhance the Cantonese New Year culture and Babaylan to create the “Twelve Cantonese New Year flavor”.
The opening performance kicked off with the sound of “Guangdong Romance and Beauty·Wuyang Fairy Dance”. The Five Sheep holds the valley and gathers in Chuting. Because of the beautiful Five Sheep Legend, Guangzhou has become known as “Yangcheng” and “Suicheng”. Five ImmortalsHanfu volunteers walked into the audience with rice ears and gave the rice ears that represent auspiciousness to citizens and tourists, meaning to send New Year’s greetings.
The dance “Flower·Suming” shows the elegance, nobility, kindness and flexibility of “Suming Beauty”. Two thousand years ago, the frangipani flowers floated across the ocean. Babaylan landed in Guangzhou. Qu Dajun’s “Guangdong New Language” says, “The flower market is located in the seven gates of Guangzhou. The only thing sold is the frangipani, and there is no difference in flowers.”
The martial arts performance of the children of Jianshe Liumalu Primary School “Chinese Boys” is like flowing clouds and flowing step by step, showing the high spirits and progress of Yuexiu teenagers. “KomiksAfter the strange flowers bloom, the clouds and clouds in the sky are red.” The kapok flowers in the morning show the prosperity and vitality of Guangzhou City, carrying the homesickness and dreams of the Cantonese people.

The dragon and lions dance together with the young people in the South. The Babaylan team formed the dragon and lions dance. The two dragons are 18 meters long and are danced by more than 10 team members. Team 3: Intangible Cultural Heritage Colors are inherited continuously
Zhaoqing intangible cultural heritage dance “Five Horses Tour” is a provincial intangible cultural heritage project. It originated in the late Song Dynasty, was popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and was circulated in the border areas of Guangdong and Guangxi in the Hejiang River Basin. It is a folk dance with Lingnan characteristics. The national intangible cultural heritage project “Zixi Lantern” from Liancheng County, Longyan City, Fujian Province originated from the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty and was introduced from Suzhou. It has inherited the miracle of “paper-wrapped fire” from generation to generation for three hundred years. Touring the lanterns is not only for praying for blessings, but also to gather the spiritual bonds of neighbors and enhancing the emotions between relatives and friends. The Cantonese Temple Fair uses intangible cultural heritage as a medium to jointly carry out cultural, commercial and tourism cooperation in Liancheng, showing the characteristics and exchanges between Cantonese culture and Hakka culture.
Team 4: The Yaotai flag reappears the “jianghu”
Yaotai Village has a history of nearly a hundred years. Villagers from Yaotai Village, Shayongnan Village and Wangshengtang Village, beat the eight-tone gong drums, carry the flag flag, and drive the Luo umbrella in the parade. The Bay Area Childhood Intention Team is composed of the Hong Kong Scout Infantry Team, Yuexiu District Middle School Pipa Folk Band, Primary School Martial Arts Team and Sweetheart Candy. The martial arts routine performance brought by the Jianshe Liumalu Primary School Wushu Team shows multiple martial arts routines; Sweetheart Candy is a team of children’s artists, whose works include “The Dance of Stars” and so on. The land dragon boat team parade is an activity that transforms traditional water dragon boat competitions into land forms, demonstrating the spirit of unity and cooperation.
Team Twelve: A romantic witness to the beautiful flowers and full moon

During the temple fair, three intangible cultural heritage areas were set up in Zhongyou Square, intangible cultural heritage blocks, and Beijing Road.
